High CPU with no motion on camera

When there is a car parked in view of the camera with its license plate showing i can see high motion percentage and also high CPU usage:
DEBUG camera 106232742: video fps: 15 motion: 67.4% rec. fps: 6.33 (100%)

When I put a exclusion over just that parked car’s license plate the motion drops the 0% and the CPU usage is much lower:

DEBUG camera 106232737: video fps: 15 motion: 0% rec. fps: -

What are the troubleshooting steps to figure out why the system thinks a parked car is in motion?

Hello and welcome @mlapaglia! Interesting observation, could you please provide a few more details

  1. Alpr version
  2. Sample image of the camera’s field of view
  3. Sample image of your exclusion mask

FYI the motion percent in the logs applies to the entire frame, not just the vehicle of interest. It is a basic computer vision algorithm, so small pixel changes like vegetation blowing in the wind can trigger motion even though a human might say nothing significant is moving

Here’s my current mask

DEBUG camera 106232737: video fps: 15 motion: 45.8% rec. fps: 15 (100%)
DEBUG camera 106232742: video fps: 15 motion: 0% rec. fps: -
DEBUG camera 106232737: video fps: 15 motion: 45.8% rec. fps: 14.7 (97.8%)
DEBUG camera 106232742: video fps: 15 motion: 0% rec. fps: -
DEBUG Job: 556 successfully uploaded in 28.8495ms. on thread 22998067169024
DEBUG camera 106232737: video fps: 15 motion: 45.8% rec. fps: 15 (100%)
DEBUG camera 106232742: video fps: 15 motion: 0% rec. fps: -
DEBUG camera 106232737: video fps: 15 motion: 45.8% rec. fps: 15 (100%)

If i put an additional mask over the plate, the motion drops to 0%
agent agent version: 2.7.102

I can only put one image in a post >.>

DEBUG camera 106232742: video fps: 15 motion: 0% rec. fps: -
DEBUG camera 106232737: video fps: 15 motion: 0% rec. fps: -
DEBUG camera 106232742: video fps: 15 motion: 0% rec. fps: -
DEBUG camera 106232737: video fps: 15 motion: 0% rec. fps: -
DEBUG camera 106232742: video fps: 15 motion: 0% rec. fps: -

Still happening, any advice?

I realized this morning 2.7.102 isn’t the latest available build. I’m not sure if it is intentional but the latest tag on docker points to 2.7.102, not 2.8.101 https://hub.docker.com/r/openalpr/agent/tags?page=1&ordering=last_updated

I’ve updated to latest I’ll see if the problem is still happening.

Same thing is happening with 2.8.101, fedex was parked in front of my house, motion was at 100% the whole time despite nothing moving in the scene

Is there a better place to ask for support? this forum is pretty desolate.
